This Was the Future
2016-2018

This Was the Future began on New Year's Eve 2015/16 with a 2,700 mile train trip across the US, crossing time zones in the hopes of chasing the year's end ad absurdum (we celebrated four times). The first part of TWTF examines how the railroad, telegraphy, cameras and grammar all worked in tandem, fueled by colonialism, to create standardized time.

Some parts of this project include:
Six channel video installations
A folio of smal books
Drawings of railroads expansion by decade from 1830 - 1910
A clock that takes its rhythm from a live heartbeat
The Dream Journal, news from the other side
