Assemblages made from a kit of scraps, scavenged objects, and accumulated off-cuts of their own creation. These are worked on intuitively and swiftly from a kit of pieces and special objects in an ontological, ritual practice. Their sizes vary epending on the requirements. Each one fulfills its role for a while, and is then taken apart and returned to the kit, offering an alternative to object-based sculptural practice. They are accumulations of material but represent the action of their construction more than a “product”, and translate my improvisational practice into presence. I hope to diminish the distance between thinking and making through familiarity with a selection of material. Consider this a kind of extended body technique.
